Andrew Kovacik is a native Houstonian who began his select soccer career with the Houston Texans, one of the premier clubs in the country. IFA Director Joey Taylor was his first Texans coach. Andrew began on the second team and, over the years, worked his way up to the US Soccer Developmental Academy, the highest level of play in the Country, by his freshman year of high school. Andrew played high school soccer at Kingwood High School, where, by his senior year, he was awarded 1st-Team All-District. He served as captain for his high school team as well as his select club team. He was recruited to play college soccer and played during the Fall semester of the 2019-2020 school year. He is now training with a UPSL Professional team, Barcelona Soccer Excellence and plans on staying in Houston to coach and play.
Andrew's futsal career started the summer after his freshman year of high school when he joined Infinity Futsal in its inaugural year. His team went on to win his age group in the first Infinity Futsal Winter Blast tournament.
Andrew’s coaching career began his sophomore year of high school while he was recovering from a season ending injury. He volunteered several days a week as an assistant at Texans Soccer Club for the younger players. He was also a volunteer coach at Creekwood Middle School and for several years at the Kingwood High Summer Soccer Camp. He has also coached for several years at the Texas HeatWave Summer Camp. In addition to coaching at Infinity Futsal, he is an Staff Coach at Barcelona Soccer Excellence in Houston.
